We're Hiring! Entrepreneur Development Intern

The Entrepreneur Development Intern (EDI) will work to support the launch of new companies in our region. Economic Development Greater Saint John (EDGSJ) delivers programs that support new entrepreneurs in planning and financing their companies. EDGSJ is seeking a candidate with a strong financial mind to support the delivery of their programs. The EDI will support the Entrepreneur Development Officer to meet and exceed EDGSJ’s work plan targets for entrepreneurship.

Responsibilities

Deliver an effective, consistent, and supportive client intake process.  

 

·         Conduct weekly Discovery Sessions with potential entrepreneurs.

·         Connect clients to internal or external resources as needed.

·         Ensure a consistent, client friendly, and valuable client intake process.

 

Support delivery of the Venture Validation Program   

·         Lead participate recruitment, coordinate schedule with mentors, and prepare program documents.

·         Provide support to participants in achieving applied learning outcomes.

·         Support participants to better understand the financial viability of their business model.

 

Support the preparation of Impact Loan Clients

·         Deliver financial modeling sessions with clients seeking financing through Impact Loan.

·         Play a supporting role in reviewing and enhancing business plans for Impact Loan applicants.  

·         Lead collection and proper storage of client files and information.

 

Are you the right person?

EDGSJ has developed a strong and proven infrastructure for supporting the business planning and financing objectives of new entrepreneurs. In 2018 we supported 41 new entrepreneurs in launching their business. We are seeking a strong financial mind to support the delivery of our established programing. The ideal candidate for this job is comfortable creating and reviewing financial documents including, cash flow projections, balance sheets, and income statements. Although this person is primary an analytical thinker, they must be comfortable conceptualizing other people’s developing ideas. A successful internship could lead to full time employment in a similar role with greater autonomy and compensation.

 

Working hours:

The EDI will work full time hours primarily during regular business hours. However, The EDI will be expected to arrange their schedule to accommodate an exceptional client experience. Evening and weekend work will be required on occasion. The EDI will take responsibility for managing their schedule in accordance with EDGSJ Navigator programs.

 

Compensation: The EDI will be paid 15 – 18 $ an hour for 30 hours a week. Compensation will be based on experience. This is a 4.5 month internship that may lead to a salaried contract position with our organization.
